1) I bought some cool sandals.

Italian made, italian leather with suede insole and rubberized sole. Quite comfortable actually.

2) I’m getting rid of a couple of games.

On eBay: Sealed, New Dreamcast Cosmic Smash

I’m also going to part ways with Gundam Musou on PS3 and Super Mario Bros. 64 on DS.  If you are interested in either of these, drop me a comment and we will work out a deal. Otherwise, they meet their doom at the local TV Panic.

3) On the topic of people feeling that Mr. Rogers was creepy:

It is that kind of cynicism that is wrong with the world. Today’s world of dirt digging and a lack of faith in humanity is terrible. We have all lost sight of the idea of the inherent goodness of man. From people thinking that elected officials all meet in some sort of cabal to enrich themselves and others, to those who feel every priest must be playing with little boys behind the altar, to saying that Mr. Rogers just couldn’t be as kind and decent a human being as he was, our world is just this ever growing cynical monstrosity.

It is sad that we have come to expect that people can’t be decent. The idea of someone like Mr. Rogers being “too nice” is a function perpetuated by the increasingly prevalent idea that being decent and just human beings is a path to failure, that the dog-eat-dog attitude is the only way forward, and that being kind to your fellow man is only to be used a rouse to screw him over in the end.

What is terribly depressing about some of the comments in this thread is that the reactions to Mr. Rogers (What a creep, etc.) are exactly the kind of reactions lacking acceptance that he devoted his entire life to fight against. I’m sure if he were alive, he would say that making just a single child feel good about themselves was worth his entire life’s effort, but it is sad that society seems to have fallen short of meeting the challenge he posed to us.

Many don’t believe in Jesus (and by corollary God) because it requires a greater faith and belief in some sort of omnibenevolent, omniscient, omnipresent force. However, here was a man who was simply good and kind, and we can’t even believe in him. Very very sad if you ask me.

I have an extra Nine Inch Nails ticket for this Wednesday’s show at Zepp Osaka. It is a fanclub ticket, so there is a special entrance and you should be right up front. The ticket will run you Â¥8500 yen. You should be able to meet up with me no later than 5:30-5:45PM at Zepp. Drop me a comment or an email if you are up to it.
